Robert Allen Massey, 90, passed away at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, WA, shortly before 1:00am, July 26, 2015 from Myelodysplasia.

He was born in Rutherford, Tennessee to Orville and Frances Massey. Bob grew up in Nashville and graduated high school in 1943. In August, 1943 he joined the Army and served with General Patton's Third army, 76th Infantry Division. In 1945 Bob transferred to the military radio broadcast unit and began his radio career at an Armed Forces Radio station in Frankfurt, Germany broadcasting entertainment to the soldiers stationed there.

Returning to the states after the war, Bob settled in Florida and began his stateside radio career at WJNO. Throughout the years Bob lent his voice to several stations including WWPG, WIOD, and WSTU in Florida, KHAR in Anchorage, KIT in Yakima and KBRD in Tacoma.

In 1992, Bob retired to Sequim with his wife Peggy. In 2008, Bob helped launch KSQM 91.5 Radio, a non-profit, all volunteer radio station in Sequim. His show was the first to air on the new station where he is known as The "Classy" Bob Massey. In March of this year, on his 90th birthday, Bob was honored as the oldest living broadcaster in the United States.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Peggy). He is survived by his children Linda (Andrew) Higgins of Joliet, Illinois, Laura Massey of West Palm Beach, Florida, Julie (Colton) Meek of Richland, Susan Trumble of Mill Creek, Robert Massey Jr. of Marysville and Phillip Massey of Lake Forest Park; his grandchildren Deborah (Randy) McWhorter of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Christopher (Sarah-Michael) Henry of New Albany, Indiana, Sarah Meek of Pasco, Jessica (Ben) Sanders of Bellingham and Sierra Trumble of Mill Creek ; his step-children SuzAnne (Dale) Wolf of Salem, Oregon, Don Nyden, Tim (Beverly) Nyden of Lynchburg, Virginia and Bob (Penny) Nyden of Santa Rosa, California; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 8th at 10:00a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. in Sequim.

I had the opportunity to volunteer at KSQM radio in Sequim Wa. Where I met Mr. Massey. He was such a gentleman and always had something nice to say.. Classy Massey.. It was very nice to know him

Condolences to the Massey family and friends, for the lost of this wonderful man, 'Classy' Massey. He has accomplished what he wanted and loved to do, radio, and the love he had for his family. RIP 'Classy' Massey, glad you had the chance to be honored as the oldest living broadcaster in the United States, I am sure you were very proud of yourself.
