Scott Gordon Obituary

Scott Marshall GORDON Scott Marshall Gordon, "Scotty", born September 15, 1940, in Long Beach, California, lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosis on September 12, 2011 at 3:45 AM at Evergreen Hospital surrounded by family. Scotty grew up in Long Beach with his older brother, Larry, and sisters, Judy and Sybil. He was born to Scott and Irene Gordon who met in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to California to work for the Long Beach Press Telegram in Long Beach, California. Scotty started his career in 1956 at the Long Beach Press Telegram, where he worked as a Mailer with his father, Scott C. Gordon. During his career, he worked for many newspapers and job-shops in Southern California, until he moved to Seattle, Washington, in 1972. After he moved to Seattle in 1972, Scotty worked for the Post-Intelligencer. In 1978 he started working for the Seattle Times, where he worked for over 24 years until his retirement in December of 2002. In 1975 Scotty met Catherine, his best friend and love of his life. They married on September 5, 1976, and celebrated 35 wonderful years together. All who knew him will miss having his wisdom, his humor and his strength of character. We hold him forever in our hearts, and look forward to a distant day when our paths will cross again. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, Robert and Scott; daughter, Dana; sisters, Judy and Sybil; grandchildren, Kyle, Emma, Myles, Lucas and Tony; as well as a large and loving family and multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis, and his brother, Larry, and his parents. A Celebration of Scotty's life will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, located at 409 Filbert Rd., Lynnwood, WA 98036.
