Sue and family,
It was such an honor and a pleasure to be a part of Virginia's care team the past 4 years.
I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend one to two hours a month with your mom for the past couple of years. She shared so much joy, wonder, and love for you all with me. Thank you for inviting me to spend one last hour with everyone who loved her. I will miss her and our visits. I'm so sorry for your loss.
My best to your family,

Playing with great-grand-daughter, Quinn.

My grandma taught me everything I ever needed to know about living joyfully and mindfully, and supporting the people you love. She always had a kind word for me and useful advice at every stage of my life. During these foggy years of early motherhood, she has never missed an opportunity to tell me what a good job I'm doing, and to help me keep the pressures of housework and perfection in perspective. Whenever she came over to visit, she would always say "Remember, I'm coming to visit you, NOT your house." This week, I took notes as she showed us how to die with that same joyful presence. She told us all how much she loved us every day of her life, including her final days, and that feeling will stay with us always. We are all missing her terribly, but are so grateful she got to stay with us as long as she did, and was able to pass peacefully when her body was ready.

I am so grateful to the nurses and doctors at Swedish for their kindness to our family during her final days.

Gina was a lovely woman who lived next door to my parents when my children were small. She treated my daughters to "tea parties" that they remember fondly. She was an example for me of a woman who, when she ran into troubles in her life, picked herself up and kept going with a smile on her face. God be with her in her new life in Heaven!
