Attilio Ronconi Obituary

Attilio Ronconi

January 30, 1916 - March 27, 2018

A devoted husband and a loving Father passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 102. Born and raised in San Francisco the son of Immigrant parents from Genoa Italy "Till" (as he was known to all) lived his entire life in the city that he loved and was a true Native son.

Serving his country during World War II Till was in the Army 1301st Combat Engineers and participated in the D-Day invasion of France and the infamous Battle of the Bulge.
After victory in Europe was achieved Till was then sent to the Pacific and eventually landed in the Philippines in anticipation of a planned invasion of Japan thereby becoming one of the very few U.S. servicemen to have fought in both Europe and the Pacific.

Returning to San Francisco he married the love of his life Marian De Martini in 1947 a union that lasted for 71 years until his passing. A civil career with the Department of Public Works in the city was followed with 42 years of enjoyable retirement. An avid reader (at least 3 books a week) who enjoyed Nature and referred to Golden Gate Park as his "Backyard" Till enjoyed many aspects of his life and the City that he called his home Till remained independent living with his wife in his own home until the age of 101.

An extremely kind and loving man who always carried a few specially folded dollars in his wallet to give to those less fortunate that he would encounter of the streets. He will be remembered fondly by all who came across his path.

Survived by his wife Marian his two sons Paul and Robert daughter in law Graciela as well as his nephew Jimmy and nieces Anne and Lyn including great nephew Sean

We will forever miss the twinkle in his eye when he was presented with a box of See's candy as well as the sly sense of humor... He may be gone from this world but his spirit will live on in all of those who loved him.
The Visitation will be on Friday at 9:30 AM and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM both at St Ignatius Church, Parker at Fulton St., S.F.
The Committal Service will be follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Dear Marian, Robert and Graciela: Please accept my sincere condolences. Til was a kind and wonderful man, and I will never forget him. I am grateful that my parents selected Marian and Til as my Godparents. I am glad that he got to spend so many years in his beloved San Francisco. Love, Elyse
