Daisy Yee Obituary

Sept. 8, 1922 - Dec. 18, 2012
Daisy Young (Fong) Yee passed away peacefully in Sacramento, CA, where she had resided for the last five years. Although born in San Francisco, she lived for over 80 years in Oakland. She was a talented hairdresser for many years at the Rhodes and Capwells/Emporium department stores, and at other private hair salons. She was a faithful member of the Chinese Presbyterian Church of Oakland. She traveled widely both abroad and in the U.S. She loved to attend the theater, practice tai chi and read. She was a strong believer in retail therapy. Daisy will be remembered for her sense of humor, generosity, thoughtfulness and caring warmth.

Most of all, she was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Donna Yee (Calixtro Romias) of Stockton, CA; Michael Yee (Robetta Yee) of Sacramento, CA, and Janice Yee (Stephen Fiorelli) of San Leandro, CA, and she adored granddaughter Kalani Yee of Fountain Valley, CA. She will be dearly missed and close to our hearts always.

She is pre-deceased by her father Fong Sear Yee and mother Chin Shee (Oakland), and younger brothers Kenneth G. Fong (Stockton) and Edward G. Fong (Hayward). She was a faithful overseer of Ed's care for most of his 74 years, visiting him weekly. Daisy is survived by her loving children, granddaughter, brother Norman G. Fong (San Diego), sister-in-law Esther Lee Fong (Stockton), and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daisy's family extends their heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to all the staff at Asian Community Center Nursing Home in Sacramento, CA, for their dedicated, loving and compassionate care.

Per Daisy's wishes, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations in Daisy's memory may be made to Asian Community Center Nursing Home, 7801 Rush River Dr., Sacramento, CA 95831, the Chinese Presbyterian Church of Oakland, 265 8th St., Oakland, CA 94607 or the American Cancer Society.

This thought, which Daisy saved from an Ann Landers column, sums up her life philosophy: "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good that I can do, or any kindness that I can show another human being, let me do it now and not defer it. For I shall not pass this way again."

I will remember Aunt Daisy as a loving, caring, and thoughtful woman who had a great sense of humor. I will miss that twinkle in her eyes after she made a joke or added her special humor to our conversations. It was an honor and privilege to know you, Aunt Daisy!

My sincere condolences to all of daisy's family. I knew her through my work with RCEB as Edward's case manager many years ago. I would appreciate notification of the celebration of life.
