What a wonderful friend he was. A devoted family man. And that laugh . . . One of a kind. I think of him often. Much love to Mo and the family.

Dear Maureen and Family, I was saddened to learn of Dan's death. We worked together at KP for more than ten years. He was a good boss and a wonderful person. I am sorry for your loss. I will keep you and Dan in my prayers. Fondly, Carol A. King of Walnut Creek.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dan Scannell. I have very happy memories of him, and your family, that span over 35 years. He started many of us in track and he cheered us on in cross country in high school.
He always had a warm smile and time for a chat. I offer the entire Scannell family my most sincere sympathy!

Be at peace, Mr. Scannell. You will be missed by many and were loved by all. You welcomed my family into your home over 40 years ago, and it's been a pleasure having your presence in my life all of these years. Godspeed, Dan!

Dear Mo and family,
I loved Dan. We hit it off immediately at KP. He was like my long lost Irish uncle, though he was really my boss. He was so irreverent, funny, smart, and an excellent storyteller. We made a lot of videos together, and we laughed a lot. He was fiercely loyal and protective of his team. Dan was never shy about speaking up, when a proposal did not pass the smell test. He seemed to enjoy tweaking the nose of authority. He was a generous and loyal boss to me, and eventually we became friends. I am so lucky to have had Dan in my life.
What a guy! I can hear his laugh now.

Dear Mo and family,
We have very special memories of Dan and your family. The Scannell clan were family for us... most of my baby photos include some combination of Duffy/Scannell children + various dogs! He was such an amazing friend to our dad, and I was especially blessed as Dan was my godfather. So grateful for the love he shared with our family.
You are in our hearts and prayers,
Danu (Duffy)

Dear Mrs. Scannell (and family),
I still remember how warmly I was received into your home while I was a young college student who had the good fortune to be friended by Sheila. The many hours spent in the Scannell household was punctuated by your and Mr. Scannell's smiles and hugs. My home away from home was a bustling den of activity, but you two stand-in parents had more than enough love and generosity to spill over into my life. I will remember Mr. Scannell (though I'm 53 now) as the big smiling teddy bear of a man who treated me as his own.
with love,

Dear Mo and family,
Dan was one of my very best friends. His laugh was classic and the friendship he so generously shared was deeply appreciated. What wonderful times we had at Big Trees and Bear Valley.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Love, Bob Irelan
