Earl "Tom" Brown Jr., 76, died peacefully at his home in San Leandro on November 15, 2023. Tom was a joyful, gifted, and creative man who will be missed by his children, grandchildren, sister, family and friends around the world. To read more about his life visit TheStoryofTom.com.
Tom was a key figure in the 1960s Bay Area music scene, managing the Spyders and the first lineup of Tower of Power. Over his 40-year career, he owned nightclubs and restaurants like The Fabulous 50s, The Chili Bowl, and the Minnow, bringing acts like Otis Redding and Mary Wilson to East Bay audiences.
A Celebration of Life with live music will be held February 18, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Hayward-Castro Valley Moose Lodge, 20835 Rutledge Rd, Castro Valley. In lieu of flowers, donate to muttville.org.
