Eileen C. Callaghan

On Thursday May 27, 2021, Eileen Callaghan passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with her niece Devin by her side.

Eileen was preceded in death by her father, William Carey Callaghan, her mother Eileen Grosjean Callaghan and her Sister Dorris Slater. Eileen is survived by her brother Charles, his wife Arlene, brother-in-law Harold, her nieces and nephews, Devin, Michael, Kathleen, Daniel, Kelly and Mark.

A lifelong Californian and proud member of the Society of California Pioneers, Eileen, lived her adult life in her beloved San Francisco. She attended Burlingame high school and Dominican College Preparatory school in San Rafael, returning to San Francisco after her graduation from UC Berkley, Eileen spent her career with Homestake Mining Company, retiring as Manager of Lands and Deeds.

Eileen was active in retirement pursuing a master's degree in gerontology at San Francisco State University. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Friendship Line, a Senior Peer Counselor with Family Service Agency and a docent at the San Francisco Zoo. After moving to the San Francisco Towers, she joined the library committee and became a council member.

Eileen was a much-loved family member, active in the lives of her nieces and nephews. We are thankful to have shared her laughter, wisdom and feisty spirit.

Services will be private.
