Elaine Maloney Obituary

Elaine Maloney
December 9, 1985 - July 22, 2022
Elaine Rebecca Maloney, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 22, 2022, at the age of 36. She will be dearly missed and remembered for the love, courage and generosity that she brought to the world. A force of positivity, she charmed everyone she met with her bright smile, engaging conversation, and kind heart.
Elaine was a lifelong resident of San Francisco and a proud graduate of Scripps, the women's college in Claremont, California. She worked for Apple Inc. for over 15 years, starting in retail and then moving over to company headquarters in the recruiting department, where she was known as a dedicated and valued colleague.
Elaine loved politics, musical theater, baseball, and a good meal shared with family, all reflecting her appreciation for the simple, beautiful joys of life and her desire to make the world a fairer place for all. A passionate advocate for women and minority rights, she always welcomed the opportunity for a spirited yet civil political discussion. She was a recurring donor for multiple organizations and volunteered on a number of political campaigns throughout her adult life. She was equally excited to cheer on her Giants at Oracle Park as she was to attend a musical on Broadway. With her love of learning and genuine curiosity, along with a patient and determined nature, she immersed herself in a wide variety of hobbies, crafts and projects, and never hesitated to undertake a research project to help answer a question or solve a problem.
Elaine drew on that same energy and quiet strength to persevere through a lifelong chronic illness and achieve anything she set out to accomplish, inspiring her family, friends and new acquaintances to see possibilities instead of limitations, find joy in the moment, and to strive to live life to the fullest.
She is survived by her parents, Lourdes and George Maloney, her sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Jonathan Perry, and their children, Daniel and Ash.
Elaine was a generous supporter of both the Southern Poverty Law Center and Planned Parenthood. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to either organization.

Dear Lourdes and George,
We are so sad to learn of Elaine's passing. She was a friend to both of our daughters, especially through her work at the theater.
We have lovely memories of the girls in their fancy dresses sitting high in the balcony at the Children's Opera singing "O San Francisco" .
Grateful we had the chance to know her.

Dear Lourdes and George-
I was so saddened to read of Elaine´s passing. She was such a bright light in the world and I know she had health challenges that must have been like mountains to climb. I loved having her be part of our community and programming at New Conservatory Theatre Center, and always delighted in seeing her perform- whether as a bird or a mom or...., she always had the confidence needed to become the role. And the way she guided the younger ones to be their best was so wonderful to witness. May your grief remind you of how much you love her, and be a reminder that she was beautiful human being. May her soul rest with angels.

With my deepest sympathies,
Andrew (and all of us at NCTC)

We remember Elaine for her strong mind, valiant spirit and kindness. Some of the kids in our family grew up with her and they remember her always saying something nice to them. "Such a sweet and gentle spirit", one said. We are fortunate to have known her and be humbly inspired by her remarkable example of acceptance of one's lot in life and the courage to live it fully. Thank you, Elaine. We'll miss you dearly.
