Lawrence Lahl Obituary

Lawrence Lahl
February 19, 1961 - April 12, 2022
Lawrence passed away suddenly on April 12th 2022 at the age of 61, in San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice Lahl and Edgar Lahl, and leaves behind his beloved wife Adriana Lahl and daughter Audrey Lahl, his three brothers Bill Lahl (Karen) , Dan Lahl (Jennifer) and Bob Lahl (Tami) as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was a delight to be around; funny compassionate and joyful..a positive, kind soul. Lawrence made lifetime friends everywhere he went. He attended Lakeshore and Jose Ortega elementary schools, Aptos Jr. High and Lowell High School. He went to City College of San Francisco and graduated with his BA degree from San Francisco State University. He was an Eagle scout, Troop 345, an accomplishment he was always proud of. Lawrence studied music at the Conservatory of Music where he developed into a talented guitar player. He played with different bands throughout the Bay Area.
During his early years and through college he worked at Lucky's Supermarket. After finishing college he joined, Pro Media, Photo and Sound, Autodesk, and Unirac, where he established lifetime friendships. Later, he and his wife ran their family-owned business.
Lawrence married Adriana in 2003. His joy was completed when daughter Audrey was born. He dedicated his life to his wife and daughter, being a devoted, joyful, and loving husband. He filled their home with music and laughter.
Lawrence lived in San Francisco all his life and spent his last years between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. During the past 20 years he traveled frequently to Mexico City to visit family and friends.
Lawrence was a beloved mentor and friend of his community. He attended Christ Church Lutheran which became his second family whom he greatly loved. He managed the church's food pantry from 2000 through 2019 until the pandemic forced it to close.
He loved old cars, his family and friends, music, traveling, a good joke and a humorous story.
Lawrence is sorely missed, and we will live to honor his life. He was an amazing person, a true gentleman, and a positive and loving human being. He made this world better by being authentic and honest.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 11 am. At Christ Church Lutheran- 1090 Quintara St. @ 20th Ave. San Francisco. RSVP:

Dear Adriana and the Lahl family,

I worked with Lawrence at Photo & Sound. After all these years I was reflecting on people who just seemed to love life, who were always willing to help, had many talents and seemed like he was just going to wrestle the good from life, no matter what.

Please know that even today, roughly 35? Years later, he is still thought of and appreciated as one person, out of thousands, that made such a positive impact on people. I can hardly believe it myself.

Of course I am not able to imagine your loss. I hope this message finds you and cheers your hearts just a little.

"[..] Our Lives Aren't Just Measured In Years. They're Measured In The Lives Of People We Touch Around Us." It will be a long time before a man as special as Lawrence will grace our lives again, but we were blessed to have had him touch our lives in all the different ways he did. My deepest sympathy to his family.

In my 60 years on this planet, I have had the opportunity to meet some incredible people. Lawrence (my namesake) was one of those people. Lawrence was kind, thoughtful, polite and an incredible father. These are some of the things that I didn't see in myself at the time. Because of Lawrence I had a role model for how to be human. Lawrence Shined above my friends and colleagues. He brought humanity to his dealings. I will continue on with the memory of Lawrence's actions in the hope that I can be half the man he was. God bless you Adriana and Audrey. Please remember that your husband and father set an example that few are able to follow.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss.
I met Larry many years ago through Darren Long.

I enjoyed Larry's singing with Darren as Double L. Larry played a 12 string guitar with ease.

Larry left me with many good memories of his
music.

Thank you Larry, May you rest in peace.

I knew Larry through my children's father, Mark Carroll. Larry always brought good cheer and stories to a room. He enjoyed being around everyone and everyone was welcomed into his life with open arms. He will be greatly missed and I will cherish the times I got to spend with him over the years. My condolences to Adriana and Audrey, cherish the love and memories you all had together. Rest in peace Larry as you travel the rainbow to life ever after. Janet

I last saw Larry in 1985 by chance, he was working at a store off masonic, he was still the nice, good guy that he was in the 60s and 70s. I'm sorry for your loss
