Mary Foley Obituary

Mary A. Foley "Aunt Mary" Feb. 12, 1915 Mary Agnes Foley passed away on November 16, 2010 after a long life of service to her family, friends, and country. Born in San Francisco, CA to the late Martin A. Foley and Mary A. Farrell. She was predeceased by siblings Clinton Foley, Sister Martina Foley, Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Martin A. Foley II & Theresa Bone. She was the loving aunt of Martin Foley III, Patrick Foley, Judith Richart, the late James Bone, the late Theresa Di Geronimo, Daniel Foley Thomas Bone, William Bone, and Martin Bone and their families; great and great-great aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Foley graduated from Mary's Help College of Nursing in 1936. Mary served as a Naval nurse in WWII as Lt. from November 1943 to March 1946 and during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Mary also worked at various nursing locations for the City and County of San Francisco, St. Elizabeth's Infant Hospital, S.F., and, later, Seton Hospital, Daly City, CA. She was a member of American Legion G.G. Post 40 and an auxiliary member of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. She generously and selflessly raised and assisted in raising several nieces and nephews through the years. After retirement from nursing, she volunteered at Alexis Center in San Francisco. She helped elderly relatives and friends during their illnesses. She spent her last 10 years in the loving care of staff at Villa Siena Nursing Center, Mountain View, CA. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched. Friends and family are invited to attend viewing at 10am followed by an 11am funeral mass, both at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1 Elmwood Dr., Daly City, CA on November 22. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Villa Siena Foundation, 1855 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View, CA 94040.
