Rosella (Rose) Kennedy was born in San Francisco and lived in various areas of the city all of her life. During WWII, she worked as an Army nurse at Letterman and other bay area hospitals. In 1947 she met James "Honest Jim" Kennedy Jr. and they married soon after. In 1949 they started a baggage handling company, from their apartment on Jones St., which grew into a Moving business. They later relocated to Bernal Heights where Rose opened a second hand store opposite Precita park; where she also managed the moving business. As the company grew, Rose and Jim built a warehouse in Butchertown and moved the family to Little Hollywood. As with any family business, she spent all of her spare time there, while her four young sons played around the warehouse. Later on they opened a wrecking yard, in the same neighborhood. As the years went by, the boys took over the day-to-day running of the businesses so Rose and Jim could spend more time, at their home in Honolulu. Rose loved sitting on her lanai reading and looking out at the blue Pacific. She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband James. She requested that she join him in the blue sea, off Waikiki. Rose is survived by her four Sons: Patrick, James, William and Robert, as well as her Grandchildren: Sarah, Ava and Sean and her Brother Raymond Arthur Koenig. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 12. If you would like toTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
