Shirlene Kemmer Obituary

Shirlene Kemmer Went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 3, 2011. She resided in Foster City for 36 years. Shirlene was born September 9, 1935 in Spelter, WV to Charles and Jennis (Coffman) Brown. She grew up in Clarksburg, WV. She graduated valedictorian from Washington Irving HS. She was married to Paul Kemmer on April 1, 1955 until his unexpected death in 1985. She enjoyed taking walks, gardening, working crossword puzzles, and playing Rummikub. Prior to her dementia, she was very active with bridge groups, Castaways, and Fifty-Five Plus Club. Above all, spending time with her family gave her the greatest joy and she was beyond proud of her children and grandchildren. Shirlene was a loving, devoted, and beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Joan Musick of WV and Beverley Jane Brown of VA; children Diane (Randy) Starrett of Foster City, David (Libby) Kemmer of Fullerton, and Debra (Steve) Romeo of Granite Bay; grandchildren Ryan and Michael Starrett, Riley and Kelsey Kemmer, and Jeffrey and Jonathan Romeo; and loving cat Honey. Shirlene will be remembered for her kindness to others and befriending everyone she met. The family would like to especially thank Bay Area Caregivers, Senior Helpers, Mission Hospice, Garden Court Residential Home, and Orchid Helu for the wonderful and loving care Shirlene received. A celebration of Shirlene's life will be held on Friday, May 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Victory International Church, 1730 S. Amphlett Blvd, Suite #110, San Mateo, CA. Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association (http://act.alz.org/goto/shirlene.kemmer) and Mission Hospice (http://www.missionhospice.org/givenow.shtml). Private inurnment will follow later at Bridgeport Cemetery in WV.
