Sven Zabelin

Sven (Svatoslav) Zabelin Was born in former Yugoslavia on May 3, 1923 of Russian parents who went into exile because of the Russian Revolution of 1918. Sven completed his middle education in Belgrade (Serbia), and later studied in Germany and what is now Czech Republic. In 1947, Sven and his parents immigrated to the USA, settling in San Francisco where he immediately began his career while continuing his education at UC Berkeley. He worked as a consulting engineer for several firms in the City, retiring from PG&E. In 1948 Sven flew to England to marry Xenia Nesterov, whom he met in Prague. They celebrated 61 years of marriage last month. Sven is survived by his wife, two sons Alexander and Michael, and four grandchildren: Peter, Nicholas, Catherine and Dimitri. Panihida will be Friday 12-4 at 5:00pm and Funeral at 10:30am on Saturday 12-5. Both services will be at Holy Virgin Cathedral at 6210 Geary Blvd in San Francisco.
