Dec. 26, 1923-May 13, 2013
On May 13th at 5:10 a.m. with family at her side, Virginia Mary Farnham, "Ginny" went peacefully home to her Lord.
Ginny was preceded in death, by her husband of 65 years Jack Farnham, parents Elmer and Josephine Brant and Sister Imelda Hampton.
She was a second generation San Franciscan, graduate of Balboa H.S. and proud "Buccaneer" where at the age of 14 helped form a "Club" with 7-girls. (Dot P., Dot W., Leona, Richie, Anna, Gerry and Norma) Their life-long friendship and commitment to one another lasted 75-years. One of her favorite San Francisco memories was walking over the Golden Gate Bridge with her family the day it opened. She loved the 49ers and her Giants to the point that two-days before she passed, opened her eyes softly for a moment and asked if the Giants were winning, then went back to sleep.
Ginny and Jack moved to St. Gabriel's Parish 66-years ago. There they raised their five children Sandy, Mike, Jim, Tim, and Tom. Over the years, the family grew to include their spouses; Vicky, Louise and Laura, their 13-grandchildren; PJ, Kevin, Shannon, Sean, Melissa, Tiffany, Sara, Jessica, Jaron, Dominic, Monica, Vanessa and Kaitlin and their spouses; Brigette, Chuck, Sarah, VJ and Matt; and her 8-great grandchildren; Mikaela, Markus, Elle, Rhyen, Jack, Morgan, Kellen and Brayden; as well as her loving niece and nephew, Patty Colen and Russ Hampton.
A stay at home mom for many years, Ginny enjoyed her 25 years in retail working at City of Paris, Liberty House and Macy's where again she forged life-long friendships. (Pat, Selma, Mave, Nannette and others, thanks for staying in touch).
Her "Family" has always been her life and will remain her legacy. Her warmth, grace, whit, smile, zest for life, courage and leadership is legendary. But her faith in God, her deep personal connection with our Blessed Mother Mary and saying her daily Rosary and ability to accept and love unconditionally was the essence of who she was. Our Mother, Grandma/Grammy will live forever in our hearts and her life story will be shared for generations to come.
A Rosary and visitation will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City on Monday, May 20th. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. and the Rosary will start at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21st, 11 a.m. at St Gabriel's Catholic Church, 2559 40th Ave., San Francisco. The Committal will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma.
The family would like to thank Christine, Laura, Marablle and her other care providers for their gentle respect and comfort over the past years and especially these last several months.
We also would like to thank, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, for the gift of five more months of life in her own home and providing the most compassionate loving support imaginable. You have been a true blessing from God.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make donations to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 1400 Fashion Island Blvd., Suite 920, San Mateo, CA. 94404 or in honor of our late father, the Alzheimer's Association, 1060 S. Avenida St., Mountain View, CA 94043.

Your mom was a sweet, wonderful person. I last saw her at my father's memorial. She and Jack will be greatly missed.

I'm sorry I couldn't attend the services for Ginny. Diane and Carol said you all did a great job honoring her. Ginny will always have a special place in my heart. Love to you all.

Dear Tom, Laura, and the Farnham family,
Tom,your mom will be in my prayers this weekend, as will your entire family. I just spent my first mother's day without my mom,so I know it will be difficult, but our faith tells us Ginny/mom/Grammy is in a much better place...happy and at peace. God Bless brother!
