SHELBY - Rick Wayne Mellon, 60, died, Friday April 2, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of Doris "Dot" Mellon of Shelby and the late Ralph Mellon Sr. Rick was self-employed in the septic tank business. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved his jeep and enjoyed fishing, camping and going on cruises. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Mellon Jr.; sister, Patricia Mellon; and nephew, Lee Mellon. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Angela Barnes Mellon, of the home; daughters, Kristie Ballew and husband Matt of Conway, SC, and Whitney Williams of Belmont; grandchildren, Dalton Tessiner, Everligh Ballew, and Wyatt Williams. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday, April 7,2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Trexler and Rev. Joe Greene officiating. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
