William Hutchinson Jackson

SHREVEPORT, LA - William Hutchinson Jackson, a native of Shreveport, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2006. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 21, at Osborn Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday December 22, 2006 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Dr Pat Day officiating. A private burial will follow.

Mr. Jackson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 18, 1927 to Thomas Haller Jackson Sr. and Marian Hutchinson Jackson. He attended high school at Sewanee Military Academy and graduated from Duke University in 1949. He attended Wharton School of Finance and was employed by Chase Manhattan Bank of New York before joining Commercial National Bank in 1952. He served as Chairman of the Caddo Chapter of the American Red Cross, and on the National Board of Governors. He was Chairman of the Ambassador's Club, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of First Methodist Church of Shreveport, and he was a member of the Centenary Board of Trustees. Mr. Jackson was also past president of the Plantation Club and was a member of the Shreveport Club. He was King of the Cotillion in 1953.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Haller Jackson Sr. and Marian Hutchinson Jackson, his brother Thomas Haller Jackson Jr., sister Jeanne Jackson Hook and his daughter Elizabeth Larie Belcher. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Reynolds Jackson and his sons William Hutchinson Jackson Jr. and his wife Lea, Thomas Harmon Jackson and his wife Sherry, Robert Arthur Belcher Jr. and his wife Claudette, daughters Rebecca Jackson Falls and her husband Billy, Cynthia Belcher Peterson and her husband Edward, grandchildren William Hutchinson Jackson III, Matthew Townsend Jackson, Tristen Harmon Jackson, Brendon Reynolds Jackson, Payton Ann Falls, Hannah Maurine Falls, Caroline Leigh Peterson, Elizabeth Ann Peterson, Shelley Larie Moloney, Haley Belcher Ojeda, Lauren Ashley Belcher, Brady Jackson Belcher, Joshua Elton Bull, Nissi Renee Hendricks, Lacey Shlom Bull.

Pallbearers will be J. Pat Beaird, Bickham Dickson, Judge Andrew B. Gallagher, John C. Nelson, Gilbert R. Shanley, Hines S. Vaughan, Tigner Walker, William M. Wilder. Honorary pallbearers will be C. Richard Dethloff, William Wade Fox III, D. R. James, T. Warren Ogden and former Kings of the Cotillion.

The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to First United Methodist Church, Centenary College, American Red Cross or the charity of donor's choice.
