Louise Tirone Obituary

Louise R. Tirone, 91
Louise R. Tirone, 91, of Clove Lakes, passed away April 29, 2021, surrounded by family. Born on September 13, 1929, in Bari, Italy, she came to this country at 11 months old with her parents and three sisters, and was raised in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan in a cold water flat. She began her secretarial career with American Airlines during the 1950's and retired from the New York City Board of Education in 1994.
Louise married Giacomo Tirone in 1956, and they were married for 30 years until his death in 1986. Louise had three children: Luisa Matos Tirone, Jack (Dawn) Tirone, and Mark (Tim Schawrz); six grandchildren: Jacqueline, Jack Edward, Rudy, Vincent, Mark, and Shawn; three great-grandchildren: Giavanna, Madison, and Gabriella. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Iannone of Bellmaur, N.J., and many nieces and nephews.
A parishoner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, she volunteered for many years at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family and traveling with friends to various vacation spots in the U.S. She loved spending time with all her children and grandchildren.
In September 2019, Louise had a 90th birthday Gala at Blue Restaurant with many family and friends.
Visitation is Monday at Harmon Funeral Home, West Brighton from 2-4 and 7-9 with Mass on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.

I will always remember Louise for her great compassion and for opening her home to me. She had a lot of wisdom and listened with her heart. She lived upstairs from us and was a big part of our lives with her children and husband. I am sure she is with Jesus now and we will all meet again

The first day I worked in McKee High School, Louise approached and asked if I would like to go to lunch with her. I never forgot her kindness. We have remained good friends since 1984. I called her my second mother. I'm going to miss her. May she be happy in heaven.
