Ronald Andrews Obituary

1934 – 2014

Ronald Leroy "Ron" Andrews, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at home. Ron was blessed to spend his last 60 days at home, constantly surrounded by his loved ones, including his three children and twelve grandchildren. He was born on February 20, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA, and grew up in Glendale, CA.

He graduated from Glendale High School in 1952, and worked full time and put himself through college and graduate school, graduating from UCLA in 1957 and from UC San Francisco Physical Therapy School in 1958. He was inspired to join the field of physical therapy while caring for his mother, who had passed away when he was 19 following a long bout with multiple sclerosis. He loved his work, and his patients loved him.

Ron married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Gaither) Andrews on September 20, 1958 ~ he always said that's really when his life began. They raised three children, Cynthia, Susan, and Todd. Jackie passed away in 1989, far too early, and Ron never remarried because Jackie was irreplaceable.

He is survived by his three children: Cynthia Andrews-Sanders of Minneapolis, MN, who has four children: Caydin, Trinity, Breier, and Amaris Grace; Susan Andrews Bridgford (Richard) of Newport Coast, CA, who has five children: Allan, Jacqueline, Alexander, Brittany, and Chandler; and Todd Andrews (Kirsten) of Valencia, CA, who has three children: Sarah, Brandon, and Emily. Ron is also survived by his brother, Harold Andrews of Irvine, CA.

Ron knew what was important in life, and taught his children through example to be responsible and care for people. Ron, our dad, was a man of great integrity and compassion, and we are forever grateful to have had such a wonderful man as our father.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Old North Church at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org).

My deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Andrews. I know what it is like to have a wonderful Father because I have a great Dad. Please take comfort in knowing that the Creator who is the greatest Father took note of how great of a Dad your Father was. You can find comfort in prayer to the Creator: "God did hear; He paid attention to my prayer." (Psalm 66:19)
