Catherine Corrine Berthelsen Boyle, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Cathy was born December 27, 1945, in Sioux City IA, the daughter of Jim and Mary Lou Berthelsen. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1963 and St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Omaha. On August 21, 1965, Cathy married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Joseph "Joe" Boyle, whom she met in 10th grade Latin class. They married at St. Jean the Baptist Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Cathy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln NE. She loved spending time with family, especially rooting for her grandchildren in all their activities. Cathy worked at Topeka OB/GYN Associates in Topeka KS for most of her career. She finished her career, caring for USD 501 elementary students as a school nurse, which she loved.
Cathy is known for her love of sparkle, travel, blue birds, sunshine, flowers, baking, and decorating. Her spiritual gift was hospitality. Cathy had a special ability to provide an open home and warm welcome to all.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Joe; their four children, Rick Boyle (Becky), Cindy Pounds (Jerrod), Becky Dodge, and Kelly Boyle (Katie); eight grandchildren, Tyler, Mary Kate, and Connor Boyle, Leighton, Ashlynn, and Brynnan Pounds and Lauryn and Lainey Boyle; one great-grandson, Walker Joe, son of Leighton and Sam LaFleur; three siblings, Rick Berthelsen (Debbie), Len Berthelsen (Rita), and Joe Berthelsen (Jodi); and 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2023, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th Street, Topeka KS 66604.
Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City IA.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made in her memory to the Bishop Heelan Catholic School, 50 13th Street, Sioux City IA 51103. Condolences may be sent online to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com or www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dear Joe and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Cathy´s passing. She was a wonderful friend when you lived in So Sioux City and such a wonderful hostess when Briar Cliff played Washburn University in Topeka. She was such a sweetheart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
