Tanisha Marie Andersen, 34, rural Dakota City, beloved wife and mother went to heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at Country Celebrations Event Center, 5606 Hamilton Blvd. in Sioux City with Pastor Michael Ring officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation, with family present, will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with a remembrance service beginning at 1 p.m. before the funeral. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Tanisha was born on April 30, 1988 to young parents, Stacey and Matt. She was an only child and grandchild the first five years of her life. Needless to say, she was very much adored. Her dad, Matthew Girard, passed away when she was nine years old and she missed him tremendously. Later, she was blessed with a "new" dad and multiple siblings, that she loved most days and well, sometimes didn't like…depending on the day.
Tanisha was a confident, vibrant, selfless, compassionate, and inspirational woman to many, even those strangers in the check out lanes she randomly would strike up a conversation with. She deeply understood the saying "love others and leave the judging to Jesus."
Tanisha graduated from Heelan High School in 2006 where she was a basketball cheerleader and social butterfly. She later attended Le Mars Beauty College and found her God-given gift of bringing out the beauty in others. She attended Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church in South Sioux City as a child. She enjoyed attending youth group at Morningside Assembly and the many adventures of youth camp. She also enjoyed Bible studies and small groups at Sunnybrook Church. She met Will Andersen in 2009. He was attracted to her outgoing personality. They married on July 30, 2010 in Las Vegas in true "Tanisha style" secretly fooling their friends into a "get-away trip" which turned into a "surprise wedding day."
Tanisha was employed at Regis, Fresh Hair, and co-owner of Gloss Hair and Make-up Boutique. She later started the blog "Heels on the Farm" but her favorite occupation was homemakerifeother and per Will, "She was the best." She enjoyed supporting Women's Health for the Unborn, World Vision, Siouxland IF gatherings and MOPS. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her book club discussing several books.
Survivors include her husband, William Andersen; daughter, Cruz Andersen; son, Otto Andersen; parents, Kerry and Stacey Derochie of Hinton, Iowa; parents-in-law, Bryce and Luanne Andersen of Homer, Neb.; siblings, Megan (Alyssa) Derochie of Blair, Neb., Rebekah (Bryce) Armstrong of Sioux City and Lukeus Derochie of Hinton; sister-in-law, Sarah (Darwin Kluver) Andersen of Hubbard, Neb.; brothers-in-law, Peter (Marissa) Andersen of Estes Park, Colo. and Adam (Angie) Andersen of Dakota City; nieces and nephews, Kiera and Klowi Kluver of Hubbard, Neb. and Layla, Pierce and Maverick Armstrong of Sioux City; grandparents, Ron and Vivian Derochie of Hinton, Iowa; uncle, Martin "Marty" Girard of Sioux City; lifelong friend, Alicia (Scott) Hales of Omaha; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Girard; paternal grandparents Maynard and Dona Girard; maternal grandmother, Katherine Gignac; grandparents, Leo Andersen and Dorothy Andersen; maternal grandparents, William Zellmer and Leone Zellmer; and childhood friend, Natalie Rojas.
A memorial fund has been established for the "Tanisha Andersen Foundation" for mental health awareness, for those that would like to contribute.
