F. David Marshall
PETERSBURG - F. David Marshall, 64, of Petersburg, IL, died at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on September 9, 1947, in Springfield, IL to Floyd Wilson and Mary Belle Leckrone Marshall. He married Jill E. Hodgett on August 28, 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Benjamin Cromien.
Surviving are his wife, Jill E. Marshall of Petersburg; two daughters, Kim (Brad) Wagoner of Normal and Kristina Marshall (significant other, Chad Beachler) of Peoria; three granddaughters, Emilee, Andrea and Elizabeth; two grandsons, Bradley and Brandon; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane (Gary) Marsh of Peoria; mother and father-in-law, Sam and Sandra Hodgett of Sheffield, IL; three sisters-in-law, Denise Hodgett of Peru, Jeanette Cromien of Galva and Christine (Shannon) Bumann of Woodhull, IL; aunt and uncle, Rachel and Jasper Madonia of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins including, Maria Cromien, Jack, Thomas and William Bumann and Michelle and John Reno and great niece and nephew, Gage and Tressa Reno.
He enjoyed horse racing, golf, baseball-especially the Cubs-and enjoyed spending time with his family.
David served in the United States Army from 1969-1971.
Dave was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria and received his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science from Illinois State University. He later continued his education at Western Illinois University where he received his Educational Specialist degree. He was a member of the Illinois Association of School Administrators. He retired in 2004 as School Superintendent at PORTA.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend John Vidakovich officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
Memorials may be made to the Menard County EMS or the PORTA Foundation.
