Becky Sather

1961 - 2022

Stanwood - Becky Sather was born in Arlington, WA and passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at her home near Silvana, WA. Her parents, Barbara and Elmer Husby pre-deceased her. She is survived by her husband, David Sather, her brother and sister in law, Ray and Shelley Husby of Silvana and her sister Linda Husby Carlson of Scottsdale, AZ as well as numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, and dear friends. Becky grew up on the family dairy farm and was active in 4-H and church activities. She was musically talented from a young age and wrote words and music to special song while she was in elementary school. She traveled to Norway as a child and became acquainted with many relatives. She was involved in school activities and especially enjoyed being in the school musical. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1979. She attended Pacific Lutheran University where she played on the Women's Softball Team and spent a semester working in Oslo. While in Norway she was often mistaken for being a native Norwegian. She was able to spend time with her Norwegian family members with whom she maintained a strong relationship throughout her life. She graduated cum laude from PLU in 1983 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Norwegian Language. She married David Sather on November 23, 1985 after a surprise snowstorm. Wedding guests came wearing their boots and snow gear to witness their nuptials. Her love of animals and her commitment to the community were evident to all who knew her. She was a life long member of Peace Lutheran Church and for the last six years had been employed in the office. Prior to that she and David worked together milking cows for 30 years. She was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Each summer she could be found making burgers in the food booth at the Silvana Fair. And every fall she could be counted on to make lefse and to work at the fall church bazaar. Special thanks to her sisters in law, Caroline Marrinier and Kathy Luckraft and to dear friends Diana Huglen and Rosemary Struiksma for their assistance while she was in hospice care. Thanks also to her many friends in the community and to her long term friends from college who gave her so much love and support. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 11AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 1717 Larson Rd., Silvana, WA. 98287 with lunch following.
