Beverly Hatfield Obituary

Beverly Jean "Bev" Hatfield, age 87, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Monday morning, September 26, 2016 at Tendercare Nursing Home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Bev was born on October 20, 1928 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Graham and Wilda Jeanette (Sharpe) Banks. At a young age they moved the family to Flint MI. Bev graduated from Flint Northern High School with the class of 1947. She married Julian McLanahan and later Harold "Butch" Hatfield. Bev was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #3, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3676, and the Red Hat Society of War Memorial Hospital. In years past she volunteered for Hospice of the EUP and anywhere else she was needed. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed playing piano, ceramics and crocheting. Her greatest joy was visiting and spending time with family.

Bev is survived by her children: Tim (Rose) Hatfield of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Bonnie (Dave) Gugin of Williamsburg, MI, Liz (Cathy) Hatfield of Steamwood, IL, and Chuck (Jennifer) Hatfield of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; six grandchildren: Sarah, Todd, Nick, Jennifer, Tim and Kraig; five step-grandchildren: Stephen, Linda, Kevin, Ally and Natalie; and 12 great grandchildren. Bev is also survived by one sister-in-law: Dorothy Banks of Montrose, MI; and three step-brothers: Lance Wiselogle of Indianapolis, IN, Barry Wiselogle of Flushing, MI, and Roger Wiselogle of Flint, MI

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: "Butch"; and three brothers: Graham Banks, Chuck Banks and Bob Banks.

According to Bev's wishes, no public services will be held. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Flint MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Hospice of the EUP.

Tim and family members,
Please accept my condolences. My memories of your mother are nothing but great. I especially remember her taking Hazel and me to Flint to spend a couple weeks with your family (when Tim was little) and I was only 13 years old. She was very tolerant of two young girls invading her household.

I will always remember her being one of the most beautiful women I've ever known. She had class and inner beauty. May your memories of her love make this time of sadness a little easier to handle. I send my condolences to all of you.
