Edward Myers Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Mr. Edward Archie Myers Jr., age 51, beloved son, father, grandfather and brother, who resided on Riverside Drive, South Bend, Indiana, departed this life Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Edward was born to the union of Edward Archie Myers Sr., and Earlene (Anderson) Myers on July 21, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from John Adams High School and studied one year of college. He worked as a laborer with AM General. He visited various churches where he loved to play his guitar. His passions were playing the guitar, singing and composing songs. Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Sybil Lane. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kiara Myers of South Bend; two sons, Derrick Myers of Indianapolis, IN, and Justin Myers of South Bend; three grandchildren, Alegna Rhodes, Devine Myers and Justin Myers, Jr.; his father, Edward Archie (Sylvia) Myers Sr.; and his mother, Earlene Myers of Houston, TX; five sisters, Gwendolyn Tillman of Houston, TX, Janelle Myers of Chicago, IL, Charlotte (Kevin) Starks of Lawrenceville, GA, Regina Myers of Atlanta, GA, and Allison (Andre) Wells of South Bend; four brothers, Ralph Anderson of Houston, TX, Douglas Myers of South Bend, John (Tricia) Myers of San Diego, CA, and Jeffrey (Manikka) Myers of Cambridge, MA; one very special friend, Myra McEwen, and one aunt, Hattie Roundtree, both of South Bend; along with other relatives and friends. Memorial services for Mr. Edward Archie Myers Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Grace AME Zion Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to [email protected], c/o the Myers family.

“BUBBA”
We have known the Myers family since “childhood”. Our parents were young adults learning how to raise children on Pennsylvania St, now we are all grown and have raised our own children. We sincerely know that this history of family love toward our lost treasure cannot be replaced, reciprocated or duplicated. Bubba Myers was always laughing, smiling and speaking on how much he loved and respected his family. We all share the same sentiments and never had anything but kind words to speak of in respect to the Myers family.
Cynthia: I last shared Thanksgiving Day with Bubba in 2009 and recently had a conversation on the phone talking about family and laughing about our childhood days. As we honor his life and celebrate his home going we want you all to know that we loved him but God loved him more. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

My sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family of Bubba Myers. I remember him as a child when he had his siblings (his sister Gwen was my sister Vicki and I age) would visit their grandmother Mrs. Myers on Elmer Street who was one of our neighbors. I was sad to hear of his sudden death. How ironic that today is his birthday. May God be with you as you celebrate his life both today and in the upcoming days to come. To my Uncle Eddie & cousins, of whom I grew up with very close. We shared weekend stayovers, summer vacations and life all my life. I am the cousin-sister who was always around & Bubba would always remind me that he is 8 days older. As kids, we thought we'd grow old(er) together, but God had another plan; He called Bubba home (the 2nd sibling) to be with Sybil & Gramma. We're keeping our family lifted in prayer during this difficult time, cause God is able! Let the healing begin.
