Edward Bumpus Obituary

Edward James Bumpus, 75, of Plymouth, and formerly of North Easton and Brockton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. He was the husband for 52 years to Joyce (Brennan) Bumpus. Born Oct. 30, 1938, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Frederick Bumpus and Katherine (Smith) Bumpus. Raised in Brockton, he graduated from Brockton High School in 1957 and attended the University of Massachusetts on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in business in 1961. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Ed had a long career in finance with Honeywell which later became Group Bull. Ed was active in his childrens activities. He was past president and coach of midget football in Brockton, coached Little League in Easton and was president of the OA Gridiron Club. Besides his family, sports was his passion. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in North Easton and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lisa (Bumpus) Bombria and her husband David of N.H., James Bumpus and his wife Susan of Concord and Michael Bumpus and his wife Kathleen of Ill.; his grandchildren, John, Henry, Natalie, Grace, Ellie, Clare and Michael; his sisters-in-law, Mona Bumpus of Wayland and Jayne Snarsky and her husband Walter of Plymouth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. He was the brother of the late Frederick Bumpus and Carole Papas; brother-in-law of the late George Papas. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Monday at 8:30 a.m. thence to Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St., North Easton, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Easton.
