Robert Densmore Obituary

Robert William Densmore of East Dennis, formerly a resident of Quincy and Warwick, R.I., passed away at the age of 76, August 27, 2014, in Hyannis. Bob was born in Boston, September 29, 1937. He was raised in Quincy by his parents, Edward A. Densmore and Grace Burns Densmore, along with his older brother Edward A. Densmore Jr. and younger brother Michael P. Densmore. After graduating from North Quincy High School in 1955, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the Armored Airborne receiving the rank of Specialist, Third Class. Bobby, as known to his close friends, received both an undergraduate and master's degree in business from Boston College in 1961 and 1963, respectively. Bob also served as the youngest (at the time) Exalted Ruler at the Elks Lodge of Quincy in 1967. Through the years Bob worked at the Kellogg Company, Manny Maxwell & Moore, Homelite, and ITT Grinell. On October 14, 1961, Bob married Linda A. Smith, also of Quincy. Together they raised three children, Michele A. Densmore, Karen A. Densmore, and Michael R. Densmore. Bobs greatest loves and joys in life were first and foremost his family, his career, Boston College, the Red Sox, billiards, card games, and anything to do with the city of Boston. His dislike for New York was just as palpable (he was a true Bostonian). Mr. Densmore is survived by his beloved and loyal wife, Linda A. Densmore; his eldest daughter, Michele Densmore Beamon, her husband Gary R. Beamon, and their three children, Alix, Shelby and Tay. Mr. Densmores second born daughter, Karen A. Densmore and her daughter Sunny, also survive their father and grandfather. He is also survived by his youngest child, Michael R. Densmore, his wife Kristina Maximenko, their daughter Emilia, and their expected daughter to arrive in October, Mr. Densmores sixth granddaughter. Besides his immediate family, Mr. Densmore leaves behind his brother, Michael P. Densmore and his wife Flo Densmore and his two children, John, Christine; his sister-in-law, Mary Hewitt Densmore and her four children, Eddie, Kevin, Brian, Kathie; sister-in-law, Paula Barton, her husband Brad Barton and Paulas four children, Rob, Stacy, Keri, David; brother-in-law, William P. Smith, his wife Jane Doyle Smith and their two children, Michelle, Jenny; along with a plethora of great-nieces and great-nephews. Robert William Densmore was known for and will forever be remembered for his love for his family, appreciation for the small things in life, faith, vitality, courage, fortitude, thoughtfulness, being a true gentleman, having a heart of a lion, and being one in a billion. The ever-lasting impression of Bobs wisdom was expressed with just a look and a minimal number of poignant words. Bobs life will be celebrated September 2, 2014, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, where friends and relatives are invited to visit from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., East Sandwich. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. For online guest book, please visit www.NickersonBourneFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, the Densmore family requests donations be made in Bobs name to the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island. Donations may be made at www.biausa.org/ri/.

Was saddened to read about Mr. Densmore's passing in the Patriot Ledger on Saturday. I have memories on Spencer Ave. as a kid when Mr. Densmore would end up at our house having tea with my mother. He and Linda were known to us as our parent's friends who were also from Boston. What a gentle spirit, so loved by his family. May you find comfort in knowing that our parents were among the many who welcomed your father / husband into heaven. Rest in peace Mr. Densmore.
