William D. Kiernan

William D. Kiernan of Williamsburg, Virginia, died at 93, on July 31, 2016, while staying with family in Milton, Mass. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to the late Eunice Hanssen Kiernan; loving father of Leslie Kiernan of Chantilly, Va., Noel MacMaster and her husband Robert of Milton, and Paul Kiernan of Bellmore, N.Y.; brother of John Kiernan and his wife Mary of Blairsville, Ga., and the late Frank Kiernan and Charles Flynn; cherished grandfather of Ashley MacMaster of Colorado. William was born in New York, where he lived and raised his family. As a decorated U.S. Army veteran, he proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Engineer Corps, earning a Purple Heart. For many years, he was a Quality Control Inspector for Republic Aviation. As a graduate of Pratt Institute, he pursued his love of art as a teacher, antique dealer, and window, set, and costume designer. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, Milton Village. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Saint James Lutheran Church, 214 York Street, Canton. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., at a later date.
