Harold Edwards, Sr.
Cowpens, SC-- Harold Dean Edwards, Sr., 82, of 816 Battleground Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of the late Helen Gibson Edwards and son of the late J. Melton Edwards and Rose Mullinax Edwards. He retired from Standard Trucking after 27 years of service, was a U. S. Army veteran, a member of the #28 Teamsters, and liked racing. The most important aspect of his life was his lifelong membership of Mountain View Baptist Church in Cowpens. He loved and cherished his family.
He is survived by two sons, Harold Dean Edwards, Jr. and Mark Douglas Edwards and wife, Karen, both of Cowpens; three grandchildren, Christa Alford and husband, Josh, Cayla Mabry and Haley Edwards of the home; two great-grandchildren, Madison Alford and Raegan Alford. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Edwards and Brooks Edwards, and three sisters, Mabel Mathis, Irma Mathis and Nancy Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Mountain View Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:30 PM at the Church with Rev. Steven Griffith officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
