John D. McClendon

March 14, 2010

ANDERSON, SC-- John Dewey McClendon, age 84, of 206 Northlake Drive, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Born in Birmingham, AL, on February 1, 1926, he was the son of the late John Dewey McClendon and Elisabeth Henley McClendon. He served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of Auburn University. Mr. McClendon retired from the Milliken Company in Spartanburg as Personnel Director.
Survivors include his children, Jim McClendon and wife, Kathy of Tucson, AZ, Margie Rowland and husband, Glenn of Anderson, SC, Steve McClendon and wife, Vicky of St. Pete Beach, FL, and Sandy McClendon of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jake McClendon and wife, Kristin, Breanne McClendon, Matt Rowland and fiancé, Laura Birch, Paige Rowland Thompson and husband, Eric, Parker Rowland, Cassie Gibson, and Sierra Buff; and great grandchildren, Jacob McClendon, Haleigh McClendon, Rebecca Thompson, and Adam Thompson.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 19, 2010, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at The McDougald Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 East Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
