Tillman Skates
CONVERSE, SC-- Tillman Skates, 84, husband of the late Christine H. Skates of Converse, SC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his home. Born June 8, 1930, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the youngest child of the late Edward and Julie Huskey Skates. He retired from Spartan Mills after many years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his daughter, Danita Gail Skates Pettit; son, Lucky Roland Seay (Chris); two grandchildren, Carla Gill and Tillman Seay; six great-grandchildren, Lynn Parnell (Travis), Michael Boyter (Stacy), Jessica Pettit, Hannah Pettit, Dylan Ochiltree, and Jake Gill; five great-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Coby and Zach Parnell, Lane Boyter, and Ava Pettit. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Freida Carol Warlick; a great-grandson, Bradley Gill; and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by his grandson, the Rev. Michael Boyter. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
The family is at their respective homes.

Papa, this doesn't seem real! I can't believe you were the last grandparent I had, and now you're gone! But I know you are with grandma again and telling her all about Ava being the BOSS lol! I miss you already and will miss your crazy stories and watching the westerns with you! I know you will be watching over your babies and I cant wait to see you and Grandma again!! I love you Papa!
