Grace Lee Keeling

1933 - 2023

A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Grace Lee Ashby Keeling, age 89, born on May 17, 1933 to the late Earl and Teresa Ashby, was called home on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.

She was a former employee of General Electric, and a former Real Estate Agent. Grace loved the Lord, and was a member of Kings Baptist Church in Mt Washington. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was very active in her church. She was one of the trustees, and then became chair-person. She was also bookkeeper for the Cemetery Trust Fund for many years.

Her hobbies were crocheting, and quilting, and she loved working in her flower garden. Her favorite flower was the red rose. She loved being outdoors, and woodworking too. She did this many years with her husband Marvin. You might see something they built and put together just about anywhere. She was loved by her family, and loved having her family around her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin H. Keeling; son, Earl Mitchell Keeling; and two sisters, Margaret White, and Betty Marksbury.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Tressa Tindle (Scotty), of Shelbyville, and Penny Garcia (Mike Grimes) of Indiana; daughter-in-law, Rosa Keeling of Taylorsville; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brothers, Charles Ashby (Lydia) and Gerald Ashby (Alberta); sisters, Jean Roggenkamp and Bonnie Lewis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, with burial following in Valley Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Memorial gifts are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
