Kenneth LAMBIE Obituary

LAMBIE,
Kenneth Core
(Age 53)

Ken was born in Santa Ana, California on March 31, 1963 and passed away in Spokane, WA on April 17, 2016.
He is survived by his children: Jamie Lambie, Colin Lambie, Jill Lambie; fiance' Cheryl Spilker; brother Gavin Lambie, sister Lindsay Wilme; father Alexander Lambie; and in-laws Ray and Lenore Trachta. He was preceded in death by Patricia Lambie (wife) and Christine Lambie (mother).
Ken believed that life is about relationships and people. His enthusiasm for life and making a difference was immediately evident to anyone he met. Whether talking about his children, Lambie Engineering, Dale Carnegie, or the weather, people always left with a smile and feeling like their day was a little bit better.
Ken was a mechanical engineer whose pride and joy was his company. After working for almost 30 years at various companies, his lifelong dream of owning his own company was realized six years ago. The pride he felt for Lambie Engineering showed so brightly in his eyes whenever he talked about it. Going to the shop was never "work" for him; it was a day full of opportunities and possibilities.
Ken married Patti Trachta, his first love, in 1989. Their passion and greatest accomplishments were their children. After Patti's death he wanted to continue her dream for their kids. His drive and purpose in life was to provide for and encourage his children to be all they could be. His phrases "Go do!" and "Why not you?" are words that shaped his children's lives to become the amazing and successful young adults that they are. Ken's heart beamed every time he talked about his kids. They loved to travel, hike, ski, boat and make memories together. His family was everything to him.
Four years ago, Ken was once again blessed and met the second love of his life, Cheryl. Ken and Cheryl enjoyed travel, family and shared many good times. As his friend, partner and fiancé, Cheryl fought alongside Ken through his battle with cancer. Cheryl will forever be in our hearts, and a huge part of our family.
A memorial service for Ken will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday, April 30th at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane or Boy Scouts of America.

I am deeply saddened in hearing of Ken's passing. He was a great friend when we went to high school together, and afterwards when, by chance, we were both in Richland for a summer during college. We shared quite a few adventures hiking in the Cascades, which he dearly loved. He was always positive, quick to laugh, and saw the good in the people around him. I got a chance to reconnect with Ken, and meet his son Colin, a few years back, and it was great to see him again. I, and many others, will miss him.

Ken and I met when he took a Dale Carnegie Course I was teaching quite a few years ago. He took the course so seriously, and I remember his vision was to run his own engineering company. And sure enough, Ken did just that a few years later. He also let me know that he wanted to be a Dale Carnegie trainer. As a fellow engineer, I was honored to work with Ken and we facilitated a number of Dale Carnegie Courses together. I was so proud of Ken when he became a certified trainer, and an extremely good one! Ken, you really inspire me and I'll continue to keep you in my heart, especially when facilitating future Dale Carnegie Courses.

Ken will be remembered for his kind spirit and dedication to his family. His love of Boy Scouts and support of all the young men he helped mentor will not be forgotten.

I am truly bummed hearing of the sad news. Ken and I have been friends since High School, started at WSU together in 81 and were college roommates. He was generous, talented, a great guy and will be missed. I shared many great times and memories with both Ken and Patti. My thoughts are with his Family.

I worked with and for Ken for a number of years. Ken was talented, positive, always optimistic and had huge amounts of patience. I watched with a great passion as he designed and modeled and built his engineered tooling like an artist on canvas. My sympathy and condolences to his family and friends. I will miss him.

So sad to hear the news about Ken. I went to high school with Ken and Pattie, and find it hard to believe they are both gone. He was one of those people that always had an optimistic view, regardless of the situation. One of my best memories of Ken is on a backpacking trip in the Cascades, where the rain and gloom never relented for 4 days. About 5 times a day Ken would look at the sky and say "I think its breaking up!" This pretty much sums up his outlook on life....

Ken was a kind, generous, compassionate "Prince of A Gentleman" that valued his fellowman. An enormous void usurps his rightful place.

Ken and I spent countless days together running, playing, biking, roller skating and swimming our way through the joy and innocence of our childhood. Though miles apart as grown-ups, we had many more memorable times together. It is an honor to have known and loved him all 53 years of my life. My heart goes out to his children, Cheryl and the entire Lambie family.

Ken was one of the finest human beings that I have had the pleasure to call a friend. True to his steadfast character, Ken was perpetually optimistic even in the most difficult of situations. He was an inspiration to us in engineering and a true blessing in his humanity. Dearly missed.
