Nicholas SAVKA Obituary

June 4,1953 - July 5, 2022

Nicholas John "Nick" Savka, age 69, of Spokane WA, passed away on July 5, 2022, from natural causes. He was preceded in death by his father John Savka Jr., mother Patricia Welton, stepfather Thomas Nielsen, sister Lynda Savka, and brother John R. Savka.

He is survived by siblings, Mike Savka of Miramar, FL, James Savka of Seekonk, MA, Robert Nielsen of Henderson, NV, Lynette Nielsen of Hot Springs, MT, and their families.

Nick was born to John and Patricia Savka at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. His first years were spent in Pennsylvania and Ohio before moving with his family to Montana. While attending high school in Hot Springs, Nick was active in football and basketball. He later attended college in Great Falls before moving to Spokane where he remained.

He enjoyed sports and reading, loved music and playing drums for "The BBs", a 60s Rock cover band. Nick was a daily runner who played tennis and was formally recognized by the Lilac Bloomsday Association as a Perennial for having finished every Lilac Bloomsday 12 km Run since the inaugural in 1977.

He was a hard working, compassionate, generous, and humorous person with a heart of gold. He was a business manager for most of his life and ran the majority of companies he worked for. Even at 69, he had no plans to retire.

There are no words to express how much we will miss our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Nick's honor on August 26th, 11 am, at Lone Pine Cemetery, Lone Pine, MT. His family welcomes everyone afterward for refreshments and fellowship at Lone Pine Hall.
