Raymond SCHULTZ Obituary

SCHULTZ,
Raymond
Henry, Jr. "Ray"

Mr. Raymond "Ray" Henry Schulz Jr. died peacefully at his home in Spokane, Washington, on March 17, 2017, at the age of 80. Ray was born on September 15th, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, and was adopted by Raymond Sr and Bernice Schulz. Ray was raised in Cusick, WA with his parents and sister, Alice. He attended school there and eventually found a trade in carpentry. In 1970, he met and married Kathryn Judd with whom he raised their six children. In 1982, Ray suffered an injury to his back ending his career as a carpenter. He went back to college and graduated with a degree in fine arts from Spokane Falls Community College. He spent the remainder of his days as an artist creating pieces of art in various mediums, but mostly known for his beautiful sculptures carved from wood. Raymond was a devoted father spending many summers traveling up and down the west coast taking his five sons to wrestling matches. He supported his family and their pursuits from childhood up through college and marriage. Ray is survived by his six children, Robert, John, Raymond, Sasha, Carl, and Alex and their families. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26th at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park, WA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ray's life. Condolences can be sent to the Schulz family at 3511 W. Olson Rd., Deer Park, WA. 99006.

I met Ray while we were both members of the Spokane Astronomical Society in the 1970's. Ray was a kind and genuine person and he was also very creative doing some unique telescope designs in those days. I moved away from Spokane in 1979 for college and lost track of him. Recently Google helped me learn about his life since then. It seems his family is continuing his legacy in a way that would make him proud.

Sincerely,

John

Ray was the best neighbor anyone could ever hope for. He was always saying how he liked to help people. He looked out for my mom and me. He was kind. It was a comfort just knowing he was next door. It was evident that his family meant a lot to him as he was always speaking of them with pride. And for anyone whom would inquire, I know Ray received Jesus in 2017 and he's with Him now! Ray is missed!
