Rhonda Jorgensen Obituary

JORGENSEN, Rhonda Eileen

Passed away at home in Cheney, Washington on June 18, 2011 following a courageous 12 1/2 year long battle with cancer. She was born January 24, 1965 in Provo, Utah. She moved to Cheney where she has lived since 1968. During her struggle with cancer, she continued to be an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many capacities, including serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Spokane Washington Temple until her health prevented her from doing so. She is survived by her parents, Clay and Doris Jorgensen of Cheney, Washington; a brother Elmer Jorgensen and wife Sarah of Medical Lake, Washington; a brother Layne Jorgensen and wife Leanne of Roseburg, Oregon; A sister Julia Jorgensen Rogers and husband Jay of Boardman, Oregon; a sister Sheila Jorgensen Graham and husband Lee of Pasco, Washington; fifteen adoring nieces and nephews; and countless aunts, uncles and cousins; and last, but not least, her faithful dog Gretchen. She was preceded in death by her four grandparents and a nephew. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She will be honored in a funeral service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel at 2536 North 6th Street, Cheney, Washington, on Friday, June 24, at 2 pm following a short viewing period at the church one hour prior to the service. Internment will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Salnave Road in Cheney, Washington. Her parents want to thank all who have offered kind and caring acts of service during Rhonda's long illness. Rhonda was one of the kindest and friendly people I have been blessed to know. She was such a wonderful example of a faithful Later Day Saint with music always in her heart. My life and many others have been blessed to have known her. I look forward to the day we meet again. My prayers are with her family. God be with you til we meet again.

Rhonda was an extraordinary person--always with a sharp wit, incredible musical talents, deep devotion and loyalty. She loved the Lord and I am sure he has welcomed her with open arms and said "Well done, my good and faithful servant." It was an honor to know her. Praying for the family that they will find peace in their knowledge of the gospel plan.
