News Death Notice

BARKLEY, Donald H. 89, of West Liberty, Ohio, formerly of Springfield, passed away on February 19, 2011 in Venice, FL. Don was associated with CUNA Mutual for many years and was highly regarded by his valued clients. He was a member of St. Josephs Parish in Springfield. Born in Marion, Ohio, January 16, 1922, Don was the son of the late John and Martha Hettler Barkley. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Betty, and seven siblings. Don was blessed with a large extended family and is survived by his loving wife, Janeana Barkley of West Liberty; son, Jan (Jewell) Barkley of Chatham, NJ; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lauren; daughter, Debra (Keith) Nagy of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Mark (Lindsay) Nagy; great-grandson, Mason; and stepsons, Tad (Kathy) and Miles Atherton of Urbana. Don is also survived by his brother, Ralph Barkley; sisters, Mary Stafford and Jean (Kenneth) Hodges, all of Marion, Ohio and sister, Helen Moloney of Oak Harbor, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 10:00 am in St. Josephs Church in Springfield with Father Hackman officiating. Graveside services, conducted by Kevin Kehn, will follow at 1:00 pm at the Marion Cemetery in Marion, Ohio. Don was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. All those whose lives he touched will remember his twinkling eyes, mischievous smile, and generous spirit. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dons name to the charity of your choice. Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with local arrangements.
