Douglas Wilt Obituary
News Death Notice
WILT, Douglas R. was a husband, a father, a farmer and a friend. He was known by his family and friends as the "voice of reason" - the one to find the good in everyone and the best answer in any situation. Doug was once a star football player at Greenon High School and continued his love for sports as an avid fan of Ohio State, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns. He shared a love for NASCAR with his family. He enjoyed water sports and spending time boating with his family on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky, where he learned to barefoot ski. Doug loved to read and was a lifelong student of history. He spent many happy moments planting and harvesting his fields in western Clark County, and he was quietly proud when his hay won top honors at the Clark County and Ohio State fairs. Doug married his high school sweetheart, Leslie Dray, with whom he remained madly in love. They had two children, Chad Stewart Wilt (Melanie) and Liza Lee Neff (Nathan). He was the ultimate grandpa to three grandchildren, C.J. Wilt, 5, Addie Wilt, 3, and Grady Neff, 1. Doug was born July 8, 1953 to Carl Richard Wilt and the late Barbara Jean McIntire Wilt. He is also survived by two sisters, Sharon (Jimmy) Webb, Lori (Jim) Carpenter, a brother Andy (Greta) Wilt, and close friends Jim and Mary Clem. He shared many special moments with his nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Doug's funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 10, 2011 in Knob Prairie United Church of Christ, Enon with Pastor (and Doug's cousin) Eric Mounts officiating. Burial will follow the service in Enon Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 Thursday, June 9 in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Greenon High School FFA Memorial Fund at any Security National Bank branch.

I'll always remember Doug as a great human being! Doug always struck me as a wonderful family man with a very strong work ethic. Although it's been quite a while since we spent much time around each other, I don't ever recall Doug speaking negatively about others. My heartfelt condolences go out to Leslie, their children and all who were blessed to know...... and especially be good friends with Doug. We will miss you, Doug! May we take the opportunity during the upcoming weekend of our 40th class reunion to join in celebration of Doug's life.
