Bonnie Littlefield Obituary

Bonnie Mattis Littlefield
Bonnie Mattis Littlefield, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, and a beloved daughter, aunt, cousin and friend to many, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by her family, following a courageously fought battle with cancer.
Born in Stamford on September 23, 1956, Bonnie was one of three daughters born to Richard G. Mattis and the late Anna (Nancy) Tiano Mattis. She was just 66 years old at the time of her passing.
Bonnie was born and raised in Stamford and was a graduate of Stamford Catholic High School. She went on to work at Hourglass Cleaners, The Italian Center, and most recently, had just retired following a 25+ year career as the Catering Manager of The Waters Edge at Giovanni's.
Bonnie was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was so stunning that it would light up the whole room and her unmistakable laugh was contagious – leaving everyone else laughing even at the most inappropriate times! She cared so deeply for the people around her, and always supported and protected her family and closest friends. She was so kind and compassionate. Bonnie made an impact on so many lives. She will be forever missed and will live on in the heart of those who knew and loved her.
Bonnie is survived by her father, Richard Mattis; her nephews, Steven Tyler and husband Michael Passe, Jason Coperine and Mathew Simmons, her niece, Angel Simmons, great-nephews and niece, Alden, Preston and Layla, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
In addition to her mother, Anna (Nancy) Tiano Mattis, Bonnie was predeceased by her twin sisters, Diane Mattis Mazzone and Donna Mattis Simmons.
A memorial service for Bonnie will be held at a later date.
Donations in Bonnie's name are encouraged and may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate .
The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to handle the arrangements. Please visit www.cognetta.com should you care to leave an online condolence message for the family.

Bonnie Littlefield was a joyful and welcoming soul. I met Bonnie in my role as president of the Columbia University Club of Fairfield County. We had several events for the Club at The Water's Edge-Giovanni's from 2004 through 2015. Bonnie was helpful and detailed oriented. She assisted me in presenting so many large, great events at the facility. Often, I would stop by on the way to Norwalk or other locales with my dog, Shana, who Bonnie adored. Bonnie was so loving and each time I think of her tears come to my eyes--gone much too soon. We are living in troubled times and we need more wonderful people to warm our hearts like my friend, Bonnie Littlefield. Claire Nathan, Stamford, CT

Words are difficult tools to use to convey one's deepest thoughts at sad times such as these. Bonnie Littlefield was a light in so many, many people's lives. Often when I passed Geovanni's I would stop in to say hello to her. She was always so welcoming. We had some wonderful times together planning the many successful Columbia gatherings at The Water's Edge. She always found a way to make our formula work. Every time you met up with Bonnie she was thrilled to see you.
Bonnie was the personification of kindness, generosity, concern for everyone, especially her father...and she was a devoted friend to so many...Surely a light has gone out at The Water's Edge with her passing. May her memory be a blessing forever. If anyone close to her reads this message and a Memorial Service has not yet been held, please contact me as I would love to share that event. Claire Nathan

To Bonnie's Family, so very sorry to hear of Bonnie's passing. Bonnie was so caring and kind as we planned a party at The Water's Edge during a difficult time during Covid. She always remained enthusuastic and there was never an issue that she did not handle with a smile and a positive attitude which was so great to be the recipient of. Bonnie always had time to talk and took great interest in my kids. We always felt special when we dined at the restuarant because of Bonnie. May her memory be a blessing.

Rich and Family, Words cannot express the pain and sadness we feel in losing our best friend Bonnie. We still cannot believe that she is gone but relieved that she is at peace with Donna and Diane and no longer suffering. We will miss her terribly and she will leave an empty place in our hearts forever. Her friendship will live on and I personally will miss not talking to her on the phone and joking about our days and making each other laugh. Bonnie was always like a sister to me thru the years and was a very important part of my Family. RIP my bestie but know that I loved you and will always cherish our friendship and carry you in my heart forever. Love, Judy, Mike, Chelsey, Charlie and all the SanFilippo Family. Love, peace and green meadows sister....forever!

Bonnie was so helpful when I was planning a party for our 50th anniversary and a few years later for my husband´s 80th birthday. We bonded and I felt we could have been friends but since we lived in Milford and she was in Stamford we had a distant for a close relationship.
