VAN BRUNT , MARY E. (MARIE) Age 94 of Horseheads, NY died peacefully on Wednesday March 8 ,, 2017. She was born April 30 , 1922 in Chicago , Illinois the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Mc Cambridge Walsh . Marie married her husband , Roy T. Van Brunt Sr. , in Chicago in March 1945 after which they moved to Forest Hills , NY . The family moved to Horseheads in 1966 where she remained for the majority portion of her life . She was pre-deceased by her husband, Roy T. Van Brunt Sr., in 1972 and by her siblings, James Walsh and John Walsh. Marie was the loving and devoted mother of four children : Margaret Janes of Garden City, NY, Roy (Virginia) Van Brunt Jr. of Estero, FL, James (Laurie) Van Brunt of Naples, FL, and Mary (John) Piehler of Fairport , NY. She was grandmother of four grandchildren Cristin, Roy III, Patrick, and Natalie and great grandmother of four Kylie, Maggie, Thomas, and Andrew ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . She was a faithful parishioner of St Mary Our Mother Church, and volunteered at their school and also at Notre Dame High School during and after Jim and Mary's attendance there. For portions of her life, Marie was a care-giver, first to her father-in-law, and later to her own mother who came to live with her for 15 years in Horseheads. She was fiercely independent and even with failing eyesight was able to live independently, moving to Appleridge in her later years and enjoying the company of the other residents there. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Tuesday March 21, 2017 from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Scott M. Kubinski on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY. Mrs. Van Brunt will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Roy in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads , NY .
