Edward J. Czaplicki

Edward J. Czaplicki died on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J. He was 81 years old. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 9 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel St., Avenel, N.J. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Czaplicki resided in Bayonne, N.J., before moving to the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township, N.J., in 1961. Mr. Czaplicki owned and operated Amcor Packaging and Chemical Company in Avenel since 1971. He was a communicant of Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Avenel, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also an avid sports fan and former minor league baseball player. Mr. Czaplicki was predeceased by his parents, Adele and Hans Bachofer, and a brother, Robert Czaplicki. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Lynch Czaplicki; four daughters, Mary C. Nota and her husband, Ralph, of Middletown, N.J., Susan Barbieri and her husband, Joe, of Woodbridge, Judith E. Abner and her husband, Chris, of Fords, N.J., and Linda T. Czaplicki of Metuchen, N.J.; two sons, Robert J. Czaplicki of Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Edward P. Czaplicki of Old Bridge; two cousins, Barbara Handa of Bridgewater, N.J., and Gregory Richards of Brick, N.J., and five grandchildren, Deanna Zullo, Anthony Nota and Catherine, Theresa and Maria Abner.
