Eugene Murphy Obituary

EUGENE EDWARD MURPHY Born on January 25, 1935 to the late Edward and Helen Murphy of New York City, Gene passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Gene was an unassuming and extraordinary man, whose intellect was only matched by his innate kindness and steadfast presence. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Jeanne N. Murphy, two daughters and son-in-laws; Elizabeth Murphy Schrader and her husband Scott, and Susan Murphy Borges and her husband Raymond, two beloved granddaughters; Anna Grace Schrader and Liliana Shea Borges; his sister and brother-in-law; George and Marilyn Rivara, brothers-in law and sister-in- law; Jack and Kathleen Wehrum, Donald and Maureen Nelson, and Leslie Richard; and a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 10:30 am at Saint Andrew's On-the-Sound Episcopal Church with the Reverend Richard Elliott officiating. A celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions in Gene's memory be made to the Good Shepherd Center in Wilmington, NC.
