Melody Smith Reaves

MELODY SMITH REAVES 75, of Shallotte, NC formerly of Pea Landing Road, Ash, NC died Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born in Columbus County, NC on August 22, 1938 she was a daughter of the late Madison Barcy and Beatrice A. Long Smith. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William Corbit Reaves. She was a retired farmer and merchant and a member of Old Shallotte Baptist Church. Surviving are her two sons, Dewayne Reaves (Janice) and Terry Reaves all of Ash, NC; a sister, Elgie Runyon of Florida; three grandchildren, Chrisy Lynn, Bradley James, Carrie Lynn and three great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by The Reverend Landis Lancaster. Burial will follow in Mintz Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bill Bellamy, Kirby Bellamy, Morgan Bellamy, Larry Anderson, Albert Jones and Dan Stocks. The family thanks the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Center, Shallotte for their care and attention during her time of residency.
