Faye Stark Obituary

(11/18/2002)Faye Stark passed away in the early morning hours November 17, 2002, at the age of 78. She was born in Lockhart, Texas on October 24, 1924, to Earnest Eugene and Ruth Culpepper Cox, but move to Austin in 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alta Eugenia of Austin; and most recently by her daughter, Victoria Faye Hurley; and granddaughter, Hope Lea Hurley of Houston, Texas. Faye is survived by her son, Prescott Allan Stark III and wife, Colleen; three grandchildren, Michael Craig, Deborah Lyn and Jessica Nicole; her former husband, Prescott A. Stark Jr., all of Austin; and son-in-law, David R. Hurley of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by five sisters, Annie Margaret Ramsey of Jonestown, Opal Ellenn Lawson of Corpus Christi, Renna Lou and husband, Walter Otto of Scottsdale, Arizona, Nancy Ruth of Camilla, Texas and Patricia Griffin of Georgetown, Texas. Faye was appointed Receiver for the General Land Office, a position she held for many years prior to her retirement from State service in 1981. She was most recently a resident of the Clairmont Retirement Community, were she had many beloved friends. Faye will be remembered as kind and patient by those who knew and loved her. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose primary interest was her family. Her love, devotion and timeless efforts in support of her family is unsurpassed. She will be missed by those of us who loved her dearly and we will cherish her memory forever. Her faith in God sustained Faye through all the trials and tribulations of life and she never wavered in her belief of Lord Jesus Christ. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Austin, Texas. Visitation with the family will be Monday, November 18, 2002, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m., with graveside services at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at Austin Memorial Park.
