Freda Hoffman Obituary

Freda Ann Hoffman Miss Freda Ann Hoffman, age 96, born October 9, 1911 to Annie (Bartsch) and Phillip Hoffman, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008. She was raised in Bastrop County, was educated at St. Mary's Academy in Austin and Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. She taught in a one room school. During WWII she worked at Camp Swift. Following the war she was employed at the Seton Infirmary in Austin until her retirement in 1975. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers George Hoffman, Walter Hoffman and infant George Hoffman and sisters Laura Hoffman Smith, Caroline Hoffman and Katie Hoffman. She is survived by sisters, Bertha Hoffman Smith of Austin, Lillian Hoffman Wartes of Washington, New Jersey and Alma Hoffman Benavides of San Antonio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The last several years Miss Hoffman has been a resident at the Retirement Nursing Center in Austin. The family wishes to thank all the staff for the compassionate care and the love they gave Freda in the last years of her life. Recitation of the rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 20th, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Rd. Austin, TX 78757 with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery.. http://www.mem.com
