James Karolik Obituary

KAROLIK, James Charles James Charles Karolik, "Lago Vista Jim", passed away July 5, 2018 with his family and friends by his side. After 80 years of Jim sharing his humor, happiness, love, and full-of-life presence, he leaves great memories for so many people. Whoever met him would remember his colorful spark and unique personality. During his life, his passions led him from Emporia, Kansas to a radio announcer in New Mexico. Family roots began with his advertising agency, Karolik Advertising, in Houston, Texas. He continued to be active in promoting small town businesses in Lago Vista, Texas, where he moved in early 2000. Jim involved himself with the North Shore Republicans, North Shore Firewise, and Northlake Church. His faith was strong, and everyone knew it. Jim has three children, Kent, Tammy, and Susan, and five grandchildren. The grandchildren, Chase, Grant, Reid, Nelson, and Chloe appreciated Pa's antics. There was never a dull moment when DAD or Pa was there. His two sisters, Nancy and Lois, love him dearly. All of Jim's sister's children knew Jim as a man who was full of life. Smile Jim/DAD/Pa/uncle/brother/friend - you were loved, and we know you loved us all. Emporia High School class of '55 would agree that Jim was a joker and well loved. Jim's high school senior yearbook noted him as "Crazy Man. Crazy." Services for Lago Vista Jim will be held July 14, Saturday 10 am at Riverbend-Remembrance Gardens- 4214 Capital of Texas Hwy NORTH Austin, Texas 78746. Donations to a nonprofit senior dog rescue Jim supported would be appreciated. http://www.grass-tx.org/donate/

I met Lago Vista Jim when joining the Northshore Firewise Committee about 5 years ago. He was always a positive force and ready to volunteer to promote the education of the North Shore Communities on our mission and his spirit and volunteerism will be missed. Rest in Peace L. V. Jim!
