Lila McCall was a remarkable unforgettable woman. We had met through the Texas Womens Alliance and an immediate bond was sealed. She was brilliant and generous, proud and opinionated, loyal and tender-hearted. A Houstonian transplanted in Austin, years ago she moved to Wimberly and thoroughly enjoyed the community there on River Road. She was a proud Republican who was always quick to tell me what I should do (as if I controlled the Republican agenda). She followed in her mother’s footsteps in the political arena. She was a proud Texan who loved her family, friends, and had a deep love of Texas and of our exceptional country. She donated books snd bought US Constitution booklets for distribution in public schools saying American kids were not taught to love our country and understand why we are unique. I have never known anyone like her. She was an original and I will miss her terribly. Lila McCall was exceptional.
