Nancy Cowart Obituary

Nancy Gay Cowart
Nancy Gay Cowart, age 76, passed away on Friday 2/12/21. God took an angel home.
She was a true force of nature, a dynamo......outspoken, generous....loved and respected by all who truly knew her.
Born in Virginia, from humble beginnings with limited opportunity she "pulled herself up"....wearing many hats in her professional career....secretary to bartender and much in between to eventually retire the proud business owner of over 25 years of Cowart Overhead Door, a highly successful service company in Austin, Texas.
In retirement she found her passion in supporting our military; particularly in providing care packages for deployed troops. She became world famous for her home made beef jerky and worked selflessly to better the lives of the men and women far from home with comforts from home. Every box was shipped with love.
She lived life on her terms to the very end and was well known to be the life of any party. She had a spectacular sense of humor and believed it to be a major key to her success. She loved hard, she played hard and if you were lucky enough to be one she loved, you never doubted it. She gave freely of herself with little expectation. She was a one of a kind Mom, Grandma and friend. She will be dearly missed and our world will always be a bit darker without her in it.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginny Villarreal, son in law, Thomas Villarreal; grandchildren, Noah, Joshua and Thomas, Jr. and her son, Charles Bradley Cowart, daughter in law, Amanda Cowart; grandchildren, Cross and Sloan and more friends and family who loved her than we can name, but please know you are acknowledged. She is also survived by her long time fearless companion of many years, her shitzu, General George Patton.
WE LOVE YOU MOM AND WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE

All I can say is...
She was a great aunt as well as a friend.
I had lots of fun going to places in her favorite car,the red convertible.
Places like museums, the lake to simply playing cards at her house.
She spoke her mind,no matter who it was. And as a child,if I were to do anything wrong, she'd make SURE to put me right back in my place!
She was a loving aunt and mother.
We love you Nancy, may rest in peace.....

I did some minor home repairs once for Mrs. Cowart near Christmas time. She was packing box after box of jerkey, goldfish, and other thoughtful treats for our troops. She entertained me with stories relayed back to her by our brave soldiers.
She was a fine Texan and American. Truly, a self made woman.
Rest in peace.
