Ramona Pennock Obituary

Ramona Lynn Evans Pennock Ramona Lynn Evans Pennock won the victory over cancer, rising to Glory, on August 17, 2010. She was 54 years old. She was born on March 5, 1956 in Texas City, Texas to David and Louise Evans, who preceded her to victory. She graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a degree in education and spent 24 years as a teacher, 20 with Leander ISD. The last years of her career were spent helping children learn to read-passionately dedicated to equipping children for success. Away from work, she brought joy and laughter to all her family, friends, and coworkers, usually with her audacious wit. Besides spreading laughter, Ramona also spread the love of her Savior. So many have been touched by her spirit. Waiting to reunite with her in Heaven are her white knight and husband of 35 years, Whitney Pennock, her adoring children Danielle and Nick, daughter-in-law Corinne, delightful granddaughter Kayden Ramona, and expected in November, grandson Connor. Also waiting are her sisters Sylva Roach and Linda Revel, and brother David Evans, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the tremendous blessings of love and prayers that have been poured out upon us over this two-and-a-half-year journey. We would also like to thank Dr. Deborah Patt and the staff at Texas Oncology, Carol Kiehl and the staff at Hospice Austin, all of her co-workers at Naumann Elementary and LISD, and our family at Leander Church of Christ. We know she is dancing in Heaven. Visitation will be at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park on Friday, August 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A celebration service will be held at Leander Church of Christ on Saturday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to Leander Church of Christ-Russia Fund in lieu of flowers.

I will never forget how Ramona was there to help us on Courtney's wedding day. Ramona loved everyone for who they were. She never judged. She was real, she was open, and her heart was pure. She was one of the reasons my husband wanted to strive to be the best Christian he could be. I know his heart will ache when he hears the news but he will also be joyful because he knows that she is with Jesus. We love you Ramona.

I too was shocked to hear of Ramona's passing. We went to church together, elementary thru high school and even church camp. She was a true friend. She'll forever be in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
