Marian Doran Obituary

SALEM - Marian Rose Doran was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on May 3, 1929 and left this life to be with the Lord on January 5, 2006.Marian was the ninth of ten children born to Miles and Jessie Hankins. The family moved to Bonanza, Oregon in 1936, and that is where she grew up. Marian moved to Salem to work as a medical receptionist in 1951.After she arrived in Salem, her friends Margaret and Marie Pardo introduced Marian to their uncle, Ray Doran. Marian and Ray were married December 6, 1952 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They lived in Salem. Marian and Ray had three children, Kevin, Leanna and Tamra. Ray passed away in 1978, and Marian continued raising the children alone from that time forward, putting all three through college. She loved to read Christian novels and do word search puzzles and did them until dementia stole her focus.Marian was committed to the Lord, having accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior while still living in Bonanza. She was heavily involved in Christian Women’s Clubs for many years and faithfully participated in church activities until she was no longer able to do so. Marian and Ray raised their children to know the Lord and made sure they were in church on a regular basis. Her faith was very important to her, and she found great comfort in listening to hymns during her last months.Marian is survived by her three children, Kevin Doran of Aloha, Leanna Doran of Salem, and Tamra Burleson of Keizer; sister, Lea Berry of Salem; brother, Wesley Hankins of Klamath Falls; three grandchildren, Christopher Doran and Leah and Elisabeth Burleson; and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tues., Jan. 10, 2006 at South Salem Church of the Nazarene, 1661 Boone Road S.E. Memorial gifts may be made to Salem Academy or Wycliffe Bible Translators. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
